FAQ Student Coaching
Our Coaching is available to all students attending universities and facilities which the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern is in charge of. Thus, anyone from Rosenheim, Freising-Weihenstephan and Benediktbeuern is also very welcome to contact us. However, please note the restrictions for the Straubing, Triesdorf and Heilbronn locations.
Basically, any student who thinks that our Coaching Service could help them is welcome to contact us, for example, if your studies don’t seem to be progressing the way you had hoped or if you even fear you won’t be able to graduate successfully.
Our advisory services are free of charge for students who are enrolled at these universities and who have paid the Studierendenwerk fee.
In an initial consultation we will discuss the situation you are in as a student at the moment, the difficulties you are experiencing as well as the possible reasons which are causing them. Together we will decide whether our Coaching suits your situation.
Together we will work on finding an individual way to solve your study-related problems by applying established methods. You and we together will reflect on your resources; often, potential can be found that is unused or even unknown of and which can be put to use so that in future you will be able to solve your problems.
If you are unsure whether or not you are currently dealing with issues other than your study-related problems, you can always get support and an opinion on your situation from our colleagues at the Psychosocial and Psychotherapeutic Advisory Service beforehand (or also at a later stage).
If necessary, we can also refer you to further services provided by our Advisory Network in order to find answers to more specific questions.
From the time of registration, you have to expect a waiting time of two to three weeks for an initial interview. Follow-up appointments can then be given at short notice.
If you cannot or do not want to wait that long for an appointment in student coaching, we recommend that you remain active now and check with the central student advisory service at your university, with the academic advisors of your chair / faculty or with your course coordinators to inquire about comparable counselling offers.
If you are a student at the Technical University of Munich, we would like to draw your attention to the offers of the learning and examination coaching team and the ProLehre team:

In general, the coaching process is made up of 5 or 6 appointments. At the most, you can be offered 10 appointments.
The coaching can only take place after having arranged an appointment. How much time lies between the appointments depends on your individual situation.
