On 5th May 2025, the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern celebrated the completion of its most extensive redensification project in the last years. The new construction on the already existing site of the "Schwere-Reiter-Straße" Hall of Residence is based on an innovative wood construction. The building provides 241 additional accommodation units for students. The capacity at this attractive Schwabing location has thus been doubled.

The Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern invested a total of 39 million euros in the new building, including grants of more than 12 million euros from the Bavarian State Ministry for Housing, Construction and Transport.

On the day of the opening ceremony, Claudia Meijering, Director of the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern, pointed out:

“Building projects such as these demonstrate the importance of centrally located public construction. For the fact that we can offer students 241 new and affordable accommodation units close to university contributes to educational equality. We're going to continue on this path by intensively planning and carrying out reconstruction and building projects in Studentenstadt Freimann, in Schwabing, in Großhadern and in Freising.”
