Hike: Rotwand (1884m)

End of May most of the snow in the mountains has melted away and the spring weather and longer days are perfect to start outdoor hiking. If you have not been hiking before, this hike is one of the easier ones in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps. Rotwand ("Red Wall") is also known as the Hausberg ("House Moutain") of Munich and is easy to reach from different sides and has an inn at the top to enjoy a rest at. The 360° view from the top is definitely worth it and so is the hike itself. Give yourself a break from the city and enjoy Bavaria's beautiful outdoors! Walking time: about 5 hours. Elevation gain: 850 m.

The hiking tour is normally described as "easy hiking level", however it does require a certain amount of phyical fitness as we will be walking all day long. Also, you should have a head for heights, because in some areas the path is quite steep and stony. It is necessary to wear appropriate shoes (hiking boots at best, at least outsoles with good profile/grip) to avoid accidents. It is beneficial to dress according to all weather conditions (e.g. sunscreen, water/windproof jacket) as the weather can change during the day. Don't feel discouraged to join by this but if we want to have a great day as a group it is important that everyone is prepared for a hike and knows it is not just a simple walk. Since the event will take the whole day, you should bring enough to drink and eat.
The event might be cancelled if the weather is supposed to be really bad.
