Gastfreunde München

The Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern supports the project "GASTFREUNDE MÜNCHEN".

"ONE WORLD - ONE FAMILY" – Munich families invite international students!

"Gastfreunde München" brings together international students and citizens of Munich and the surrounding area. The students can learn more about Germany and the “Münchner” while, for instance, meeting up for a cup of coffee, enjoying a meal together, speaking German, discussing interesting topics, doing sports, playing music and lots more… And thus they get to know everyday life in their host country!

More information can be found here: http://www.gastfreunde-muenchen.de/en

Christine Karsten’s project "Gastfreunde München" was honoured at the event "Europäisches Jahr für aktives Altern und Solidarität zwischen den Generationen 2012" ("European year for active aging and solidarity between the generations 2012"). The private initiative was awarded first prize at the competition "Jung und Alt - gemeinsam geht es besser” (“Young and old - it’s easier together”). The Social Services Department of the state capital of Munich and the Sparda Bank München jointly initiated this competition spanning generations and worth an overall of €10,000, half of which now went to the project "Gastfreunde München". We’d like to congratulate Christine Karsten and are especially pleased that international students are being supported.
