cultureclubbing goes Literaturhaus & Unter Deck

  • Categories: cultureclubbing

As part of cultureclubbing and in cooperation with the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern, the Literaturhaus will be presenting the exhibition Susan Sontag »EVERYTHING MATTERS«, featuring partly unpublished photographies, manuscripts, film clips as well as personal objects from the life and writing of this important philosophical thinker from the 20th century.

The Literaturhaus will be opening its doors exclusively for students for one evening!

Susan Sontag »EVERYTHING MATTERS«

"Everything matters" – the New York intellectual Susan Sontag wrote in her diary when she was only 16 years old. For the brilliant essayist, author and culture enthusiast reading, writing, looking, acting and engaging was of equal importance. The exhibition in the Literaturhaus München is presenting this icon of philosophical thinking in the 20th century in five stations and creating a journey through time to her home town New York and the most important people in her life. Having your own opinion, allowing art to take effect, forming your own ideas, going to the scene of the event – Susan Sontags radical independence, both aesthetical and political, was her passionate credo. The world was her topic, said Paul Auster, with whom Susan Sontag had a close friendship for decades. Now she is being discovered by a new generation.

"I wanted to see as much as I could" – Susan Sontag, 2003

Afterwards, we’ll all head to the Unter Deck – with free drinks for the first 50 students.

Date: Thursday, 12th June 2025

Registering beforehand is not necessary. Depending on the number of people, students can simply come and visit the exhibition anytime between 8:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. and, from 10:00 p.m. onwards, party or let the evening end in the Unter Deck.
