The Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern's next cultureclubbing will be taking place already in December – enjoy the play "Katzelmacher" in the Münchner Kammerspiele, followed by drinks in the TAM TAM Treppenbar.
On Thursday, 18th December 2025, it'll be:
cultureclubbing goes Münchner Kammerspiele & TAM TAM Treppenbar
Play "Katzelmacher" by Rainer Werner Fassbinder with epilogue by Emre Akal
The play's title "Katzelmacher" used to be a term of abuse used for "guest workers" in the 1960s in Austria, but also in Switzerland and Bavaria. The play by Rainer Werner Fassbinder from 1968 depicts a group of nine young adults in the depths of Bavaria and their racist treatment of the Greek "guest worker" Jorgos.
Emre Akal has put on a new production of the original play, together with the artist duo Mehmet and Kazim, and traces the mechanisms of a racist society with their illusion-like sets and videos as well as the award-winning costume design by Lara Roßwang. In an epilogue, Emre Akal links the play to today's society.
Experience a dramatic and multi-faceted evening at the theatre!
The play will be performed at 8:00 p.m. in the Schauspielhaus of the Münchner Kammerspiele. It will be presented with English subtitles.
Clubbing in the TAM TAM Treppenbar
From 9 p.m. onwards the audience is welcome to head over to the TAM TAM Treppenbar, located beside the Kammerspiele, to talk about the play or to simply enjoy the rest of the evening in a nice atmosphere. The first 50 students will receive free drinks. The evening will be accompanied by music by monikaℬluse as well as open decks for students: if you'd like to dj, send an email to hello@tamtam-ok.de or simply let them know at the bar.
