Beware of fraudulent advertisements!

  • Never pay a deposit, rent, etc. in advance.
  • Be cautious if the accommodation is offered at a rent that is significantly lower than usual for the area. The average rent in Munich is around €500-600 for a room in a shared flat, €700-850 for a one-room apartment and €900-1,200 for a two-room apartment.
  • Often, the only contact option provided is an email address.
  • Photos of the accommodation look like they were taken from a catalogue or brochure.
  • Be cautious if the contact person asks you to email them a copy of your ID or passport in order to prepare the tenancy agreement and promises to send the keys by mail because they are currently abroad.
  • Never transfer money via money transfer (e.g. Western Union) without having seen the accommodation first. Always insist on a personal viewing.

If an offer seems suspicious, please inform us immediately.
