As part of cultureclubbing, the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern would like to invite you to FILMFEST MÜNCHEN on 2 July!

Together, we will be presenting a highlight from the festival's current programme. Afterwards, as always with cultureclubbing, there will be free drinks to round off the evening.

FILMFEST MÜNCHEN is one of Europe's most important summer film festivals. See major international productions and German world premieres long before their official release dates, and discover indie gems, genre cinema, TV series, and much more. A summer experience for all film enthusiasts!

On 2 July we will be showing the film “HOT WATER” by Ramzi Bashour exclusively for students.

Are we there yet? Layal, a university professor, and her son Daniel have had a rather strained relationship for some time. But when David is expelled from high school for getting into yet another fight, Layal has had enough and decides to drive him to his father’s house — clear across the United States. Plenty of time to talk about everything. 

The film will be screened in original tone (English, Arbaic and French) with English subtitles; afterwards, you'll get the unique chance of talking to the film's director Ramzi Bashour at a Q&A session!

Ramzi Bashour is a Syrian American filmmaker based in New York. He grew up in Beirut, Lebanon, studied creative writing and music at Indiana University, and received his MFA from NYU Graduate Film. Hot Water is his first feature film as writer-director. It premiered at Sundance in 2026.

Location: Audimax HFF (University of Television and Film Munich)

After the film (from around 11 pm), we invite you for drinks at Minna Thiel. Everyone who collects their cinema ticket on-site will also receive a voucher for a free drink (beer or soft drink) at Minna Thiel.
