ELSA

ELSA is an independent, politically neutral and international non-profit organisation consisting of law students and young legal professionals. ELSA-Deutschland e.V. has existed since 1989 as the umbrella organisation of 43 German faculty groups with a total of more than 11,000 members.

The organisation’s goal is to promote the cooperation of young Europeans in the field of law.

 

Programme

  • Fresher trip: weekend at the beginning of each winter semester, offering the opportunity to get to know each other and make new contacts
  • Fresher week: numerous events that take place in the first couple of weeks of the semester
  • L@W events: visiting legal departments and law offices of various sizes including presentations
  • STEP: arranging paid internships abroad in law firms, public authorities, institutions and companies throughout Europe
  • numerous journeys within Germany and also abroad (e.g. to the Federal Constitutional Court, Federal High Court of Justice and the European Court of Justice)
  • public board meetings followed by a “Stammtisch” in a bar, every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. to discuss current projects.
  • national and international ELSA meetings
