The Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern is responsible for supporting students studying at the universities it is in charge of in financial, social and cultural matters. Furthermore, it contributes to promoting international relationships. 

German Studierendenwerke usually offer their services to a network consisting of several universities and campuses. The Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern is thus responsible for a total of 15 universities with approximately 143,000 students (see Bavarian Studierendenwerk regulations).

We are fully responsible for the following universities:

(*1) excl. Straubing Campus; incl. Heilbronn Campus (in cooperation with Studierendenwerk Heidelberg) and Singapore Campus;
(*2) excl. Triesdorf and Straubing Campus; (*3) no execution of BAföG; (*4) Fachakademie without execution of BAföG by the STWM.

The Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern provides the following services to students studying at universities we are fully responsible for:

The “Hochschule für Angewandtes Management (FH) Ismaning” no longer lies in the area of jurisdiction of the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern since 1st Feb 2026 due to a change of headquarters.
