Hall of Residence Kaulbachstraße - Inclusive Hall

Administrative Office: Stiftsbogen

Marie-Antonie-Haus
Kaulbachstraße 49
80539 München

U3/U6 Universität

The Kaulbachstraße Hall of Residence – Marie-Antonie-Haus –, the first and thus oldest student hall of residence in Munich, owes its existence to the generosity of James Loeb. He gave the house to the Studierendenwerk’s “predecessor”, the organisation “Studentenhaus München”, asking it to be dedicated to his beloved wife. Students moved into the house in April 1970.

The reconstruction of the Marie-Antonie-Haus as an innovative inclusive hall of residence is a continuation of its social history. The construction work is designed for the needs of people with various disabilities (for example, automatic doors, no steps, surfaces designed with strong contrasts, a flashing light instead of a bell and specific colour designs).

After the construction work has been completed, students from various different countries and cultural backgrounds, with and without disabilities and/or chronic illnesses as well as families will be able to enjoy living together despite their differing personal circumstances. This hall of residence is especially suitable for students who enjoy social commitment or simply want to live in a big and diverse residential community.
