The recently amended “Bayerisches Hochschulgesetz” [Bavarian university regulations] specifies that all German Studierendenwerke are to change their names into “Studierendenwerk” within the next few years. This new law took effect on 1 January 2023. The Studentenwerk München will seize the opportunity to change the prior wordmark “Studentenwerk München” into “Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern”, in order to emphasize that the area of responsibility does not end at the city boundaries of Munich but that all universities and 135,000 students in Upper Bavaria profit from the services provided.
The Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern supports the concept of also using a name that shows that the variety of students is getting more and more diverse and that we treat all students equally, regardless of nation, gender or social status.
Adapting all media, dishes, information signs in our various locations will take a little while. In order to save costs, the full transition will be carried out step by step over the next couple of years.
