All students who have paid the solidarity fee for the semester ticket of the MVV (Munich Transport Association) and thus have the MVV logo on their student ID will be able to use all public transport of the MVV without any restrictions in the summer semester 2023 until the start of the Germany ticket on 1st May 2023.
After extensive negotiations between the Munich transport services, the AK Mobilität (committee for mobility) and the Studierendenwerk München Oberbayern, a favourable solution for students has been reached. In the summer semester 2023, valid student IDs with the MVV logo will be valid as full-time tickets in the MVV until 1st May 2023 – not only during the usual hours, but in the entire MVV network at all times. Student IDs will be valid for using public transport from the beginning of the individual universities’ summer semester 2023.
From 1st May 2023 onwards, students will be able to purchase the Germany ticket (Deutschlandticket) for 49 euros a month; this ticket is valid for the entire MVV area as well as for all local public transport throughout Germany.
The IsarCard Semester for the summer semester 2023 will no longer be sold. Tickets that have already been purchased can be returned until 30th April 2023 with the transport service they were bought with.
From 1st May 2023, the validity of student IDs will once again be reduced to the hours of 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mondays to Fridays as well as all day on weekends and holidays.
